Softball Falls To West Liberty State At SCAD Spring Break Tournament

SAVANNAH, Ga. – West Chester University was two-hit in its opener and then fell behind early in its second game, opening the Savannah College of Art & Design Spring Break Softball Tournament with two losses, 3-0 and 5-1, respectively.

West Chester falls to 4-5 on the season with the two setbacks.

In the opener, West Liberty State tossed a two-hit shutout, keeping the Golden Rams’ bats silent on the afternoon. Stefani Kerbacher and Jamie McComb were the only batters to muster a hit. West Liberty scored single runs in the first, sixth and seventh for the 3-0 decision.

Megan Graham (0-2) took the loss inside the circle. She started and lasted five innings, allowing six hits and two earned runs while striking out two. Padula finished up allowing one unearned run on two hits.

Padula (3-3) took the ball to start the second game and threw six more innings. The lefty allowed four earned runs on 11 hits, walked one and struck out two to take the loss to Armstrong Atlantic State, 5-1.

She went 2-for-2 at the plate. Katie Kmiencinski went 2-for-4, and Alisha DiMarzio knocked in the team’s only run of the day.

West Chester takes on Chowan at 10 a.m. on Wednesday and then has a rematch with Armstrong Atlantic State at noon.
